Statements of endorsement supporting Tim Wakefield becoming the next Sheriff for Oldham County

Robert C. Noble
Chief Deputy Oldham County Sheriff’s Office (retired)

I began working for the Oldham County Sheriff’s Office in July 2003 after retiring from the Kentucky State Police with 26 years’ service. I started as a part time court security officer. In early 2004 I began overseeing the Oldham County Sheriff’s Office domestic violence grant and worked as an investigator. I had casually known Tim Wakefield prior to that, however, as I began having more contact with the Oldham County Police Department, I became well acquainted with the command staff.

In 2006 I became Chief Deputy of the Oldham County Sheriff’s Office. I was responsible for the day-to-day operations. Since that time, I have become well acquainted with Tim Wakefield. I know Tim Wakefield to be professional, knowledgeable, and having the leadership traits necessary for becoming the next Oldham County Sheriff. His experience the last several years with the Trimble County Sheriff’s Office, where he is highly regarded, will certainly be an asset as well. Tim will be fully capable of administering the demanding duties of the sheriff on day one.

A side-by-side comparison of leadership, experience, and training will show one logical choice for the next sheriff. That choice is Tim Wakefield who I proudly endorse.

Dennis Deibel
Mayor Emeritus City of Crestwood, KY

I have known Tim Wakefield for many years. He and his family are lifetime Oldham County residents and Tim has worked hard to protect and enhance our community. He serves with me as a board member of the South Oldham Fire Department as well as Floydsburg Cemetery/Duncan Memorial Chapel and has taken an active leadership role on both. You can count on Tim to put forth the effort needed to get the job done. I am endorsing Tim Wakefield as the next Sheriff of Oldham County and ask for your support as well.

Karen T Barry (Brydon)
SAIC US Secret Service (retired) La Grange, KY

I have known Tim Wakefield, Oldham County Sheriff Candidate, for approximately 26 years. I first met Tim when I was working as the Special Agent in Charge of the US Secret Service Office in Louisville in 1996. Part of my duties as the head agent for the US Secret Service required me to meet with many law enforcement  personnel around the state. As a police officer with OCPD, Tim responded to my requests for assistance with professionalism and a "what else can we do to help" attitude. He was an excellent example of police cooperation that the US Secret Service depends upon to complete our missions.

After I retired , I was appointed to the Oldham County Police Merit Board for several terms. During that time, I had the chance to observe Tim as he was the Major in charge of the Operations Section of the OCPD. He managed the Detective Section, SWAT team, Patrol Section as well as managing budgetary items and personnel issues. Tim always presented himself in a professional manner and was well versed in police operations. He was instrumental in the recruitment of qualified candidates for the department.

As a resident of Oldham County for the last 26 years, I feel confident in Tim Wakefield's ability to carry out the duties required of the Sheriff . I know Tim has the experience, managerial skills and personality to represent Oldham County as Sheriff.

Major A.J. (Tony) Cobaugh
Assistant Chief of Police St. Matthews Police Department

I love Oldham County, don’t you? During the past 40-years, I have lived in Goshen, Pewee Valley and Crestwood. I married a Pewee Valley woman 26-years ago. I have family and friends residing throughout Oldham County. My wife and I have a combined 72-years of service in law enforcement.

Oldham County Republicans have a very important primary vote coming up on May 17th for the office of county sheriff. A county sheriff, like a police chief, serves as the top administrator of their agency. In Kentucky, sheriffs are appointed by the people in an election. The people select their sheriff, not a politician.

When I went to college, I took two years of political science classes. The professor encouraged us to study all of the candidates in an race, compare their experience-levels and platforms, know the communities needs, and choose the best candidate for the job.

I encourage Oldham County Republicans, especially the undecided and first-time voters, to create a comparison on a piece of paper by writing Lane on one side and Wakefield on the opposite side. Next, go to their campaign websites and write down notes of the candidates’ experience-levels, platform and vision. You will see one side of that comparison offers much more.

I have known Tim Wakefield since the late 1980’s when we met at the University of Louisville. I remember OCPD Chief Steve Nobles. Steve was the kind of chief that when he entered the room, police officers, like Tim, sat up straight in their chair. Tim has always strived to learn from police officers like Chief Nobles and that is still paying Tim dividends today.

The office of county sheriff is an executive-level position. Tim Wakefield’s career of service to his home county is lengthy and offers a steady balance of experience, training and community engagement. Once Tim joined the Oldham County PD, he served as an officer, first-line supervisor, mid-level manager, executive staff officer and chief of police.

When considering the office of Oldham County Sheriff, Tim Wakefield is truly qualified, very experienced and is a proven police leader. Tim is a very respected "cop’s-cop" who has been in the trenches with his brothers and sisters throughout his entire career. So, review your comparison sheet of these two candidates. One candidate offers much more. On May 17th, vote for Tim Wakefield for Oldham County Sheriff.
